Our Cub Leaders

We currently run 3 Cub Packs: 2 in Oxted (Tuesday and Wednesday) and one in Hurst Green (Wednesday). All Oxted uniformed leaders are volunteers. They give their time for free and work hard to provide a safe, fun and interesting environment for each member of our Cub Packs to develop.

All uniformed leaders are either Wood Badge Qualified or working towards this qualification by following the thorough Scout Association training programme that. All leaders have to undergo a full Disclosure and Barring check, supply personal references and be approved by an Adult Appointments Committee before their first appointment. Appointments are also subject to regular review and renewal.

Andy Wright is our Wednesday (Acorn Pack) Cub Scout Leader or “Akela”. He is supported by, Phil Hosp (our Group Scout Leader), Michelle Staples and Jon Wells. All these leaders have or had youngsters in Scouting in Oxted Cub and each got involved in leading the Cub Pack at the same time that their children joined the Pack.

John Jones is our Tuesday (Oak Pack) Cub Scout Leader or “Akela”. John has youngsters in both Cubs and Beavers.  He is assisted by Marcus Roberts and Benjamin Miller.

Jane Hilson and Mark Swain run the recently established Hurst Green Pack. They are supported by three new adults who have joined the adventure and are becoming leaders or section assistants.
