BIKE SALE - Saturday 12 May

Last September we held a bike sale, and made over £600 clear profit for Group funds.

We will be holding another sale on Saturday 12 May.

We really do need parental help from a few people for a little time, and from one or two people for longer. We need at least TWENTY persons in addition to the uniformed leadership and the members of the Executive committee, to help to make the sale work. Last year it was great. This year it can be better. We will need up to half a dozen brave folks around 7a.m to put up gazebos and prepare the site, and to ensure we are ready for opening. Then we need a good number - well over a dozen - able to help with stewarding, selling bikes, generally being around to ensure things go ok.

It is not necessary to help for the entire time - if you can do an hour here, an hour there, that is welcome. We expect to be clear by a little after noon; nobody is being asked to help for six hours, though if you want to, you are most welcome.

The bike sale should go well with your assistance, and make a good profit. When combined with the funds paid by the railway company for the use of our land, it adds up to sufficient money to refit the lavatories and the kitchen at the Stafford Hut, which you will agree is a worthwhile objective.

Please email me or speak to me with contributions of assistance, or turn up on the day. Any of the Scouts assisting for the morning will take away points contributing to the Community Challenge badge.

"Tons o' fun" CAMP 25-27 MAY 2007

Parents will need to transport their Scouts to the site and back on the Sunday, and I will be providing a KIT LIST for you very soon.

St Georges Day Parade

Lingfield, Sunday 22 April, 2.15p.m

St Georges Day is an important event in the Scout calendar. Thanks to all who turned out to make a bumper attendance for the 1st Oxted!

GROUP AGM - Friday 18 May

The Scout Group will hold its Annual General Meeting at the United Reformed Church, Bluehouse Lane, from 1945 on FRIDAY 18 MAY. The venue ischanged because of the difficulty of parking at the Stafford Hut.

There will be the presentation of reports including finances, and election of the Executive Committee. Everyone who is interested in the future of the Group should attend this meeting. There will be light refeshments - wine and cheese.

5-a-side FOOTBALL - Sunday 20 May

District will hold its annual FIVE-A-SIDE football competition from 0930 hrs at Lingfield School on SUNDAY 20 MAY. The entry fee is £10 per team. We will enter either two or three teams depending on demand. Scouts should attend on the day with football kit, water bottle, and £2 entry fee. If the weather is sunny I would remind parents to ensure their children are adequately protected with suncream.

There will be refreshments - bacon butties - available at cost.
