1st Oxted Scout Group
Headquarters: The Stafford Scout Hall, Chalkpit
Lane, Oxted, Surrey. |
| The 1st Oxted Scout Group is in dire need of more volunteer UNIFORMED LEADERS
The Scout Group has: A single Beaver Colony of 7 children with a waiting list as big again, with one uniformed leader and a helper. The Colony cannot grow until more leaders and helpers are identified.
In the Acorn Cub Pack there are around 30 youngsters led by Tony Soutter, Rob Griffiths and Chris Hulme.
In the Scout Troop there are over 30 young people, led by a team including Nick Hough, "Swiss" Tony Pearson, Austin Copp, Phil Dunnell and Matt Stone.
All of these uniformed volunteers have their own families and jobs as well as doing Scouting and cannot always make it every single week. Also, at the moment the important role of Group Scout Leader is assumed by Nick Hough at the same time a taking a lead role in the Scouts.
All parental help is welcome and essential - the Group could not function otherwise. We would also like to welcome anyone who wishes to assist us on a regular basis, leading to being a uniformed Scouter.
This is very rewarding and enjoyable work, but it is also challenging. Appropriate training is provided free of charge by the Scout Association. There is a minimum time commitment involved, of some 30-35 evenings per year, as well as a number of days at the weekend. All volunteers must agree to undergo a Scout Association CRB check. There is no charge for this.
If you feel you would like to try out join us in this challenging but very rewarding work, please contact me by email, or contact any uniformed leader or member of the Executive committee.
